Just returned late yesterday from a wonderful trip down history lane, in Vicksburg, MS. Homes from the 1800’s gave us a sense of what life was like back then. I’m glad I live in today’s 21st century, my how spoiled we have become!
As we learned about the battle between the Union and Confederates for the town, one has to be amazed at the length of travel in primitive times to pull off victory. Who was involved, how did they do this? Sad was the fact that 13,000 soldiers are buried in unmarked graves at the Vicksburg National Military Park.
A surreal morning was getting up to take sunrise photos from the city cemetery where these hugh monuments were erected that encompassed whole families. Some as young as 1 year old…sad. One can only imagine the pain, and sacrifice families made during this time which paved the way to a better life for us all.
The Memphis Camera Club group had a wonderful 3-4 days of fun, photography, and fellowship.
